COACHING

Coaching is about working with clients to clarify their values, to create and work with a focused agenda, and to hold the client accountable for stretching and reaching their goals.

The Co-Active coach and client co-create their partnership alliance; we set the coaching agenda and the direction the coaching will go. Generally, the coaching begins with a clarification of values, vision, and purpose. We then focus on the choices you make and look at other perspectives that may inform new and different choices. We focus on making these choices real, measurable, achievable, and how you will be held accountable in our coaching partnership.

A professional coach is trained and certified by an independent coaching institution that is accredited by the International Coaching Federation. A professional coach will adhere to the Code of Ethics of the ICF.

I am trained to listen, observe, inquire, question, challenge, and motivate my clients on their personal agendas. I draw from my experience and training—bringing forth tools, homework, dares, challenges, opportunities, structures, and a variety of other skills and techniques—to bring discovery, fulfillment, and balance to my clients.

Co-Active coaching believes the client is whole, not broken. My job is not about fixing a client; rather, it’s about working in partnership with you toward the goals you have established for yourself. The beauty of coaching is the ongoing, regular contact between us to process and support the change. Coaching is not “trial and error” following the reading of a personal development book. It is about active partnership, support, and accountability.

Coaching takes time. Whatever is on your agenda, built over time, will take time to change. Coaching brings forward the large truths. Not “how do I fix this?” but “what’s in the way of my being able to fix this?” Genarian coaching looks at deep personal and systemic change.

Coaching is a powerful partnership for your personal development. As a result of your commitment to coaching, you will find a greater sense of positive well-being that will affect your life. Professional coaching helps individuals and groups clarify their vision, establish a course of action, and sustain momentum toward goals. The coaching relationship provides a structure for progress, reflection, and evaluation, producing results that align with your personal and collective values and priorities.

CO-ACTIVE INDIVIDUAL COACHING

An individual coaching engagement is for one person.

I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC). Co-Active Coaching is a powerful designed alliance created to deepen your learning and forward your action! This model of coaching is about your unique fulfillment and balance, both of which lead to your living a satisfying and successful life. In the Co-Active Coaching model, we will engage in a powerful partnership to meet your unique needs.

The job of the Co-Active Coach is to ask powerful questions that help you create perspective and meaning around your chosen coaching topic. The process is not about my expertise or opinions; you have the answers. Co-Active Coaching includes goal setting, mission and values clarification, skill-building, support, brainstorming, and will be a lot of fun!

The Four Cornerstones of Co-Active Coaching

1. We find answers together

You are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. There is nothing wrong, broken, or needs fixing with you. I don’t have the answers, rather I ask the questions that create opportunities for your self-discovery and finding your own answers.

2. The model is holistic

Co-Active coaching addresses your whole life. Central to the Co-Active Coaching model is your fulfillment, balance, and life process.

3. It’s your agenda

The agenda comes from you. You are in charge and the coaching relationship is focused on you getting the results you want. I will ensure you are always steering toward fulfillment and balance and are able to engage in the processes that support your life. I will hold your agenda and make sure it does not get forgotten.

4. We work with what shows up

Your coach “dances in the moment” with you. I will coach what shows up and not work from a rigid plan. There is a fluid give and take in the lead between us. Everything that is happening is an opportunity for learning and movement.

WHAT TO EXPECT

SAMPLE SESSION

Genarian will provide a complimentary coaching session lasting from 30 – 45 minutes which is yours to explore, risk free, the possibilities coaching can open for you or your group.

GETTING STARTED

Our coaching relationship will be designed Co-Actively, together. After an initial two-hour session where we will develop your coaching plan, we will follow up with regular coaching calls. On-going Genarian coaching is usually accomplished through two hours of coaching per month and on a schedule that works for all participants. It is a decision that is entirely based upon how your schedule works and what amount of time is most supportive to meet your goals.

We will meet on the phone, video conference, or in person. I welcome a reasonable amount of e-mail and text messaging support which are included in the monthly fee. Payment is made at the beginning of the coaching month through a variety of on-line methods.

OUR FIRST SESSIONS

We will spend our first few sessions working on your agenda and clarifying what you hope to get from and put into our coaching relationship. One of the many things the coaching relationship can be for you is a mirror for how you are in relationship with others. Consider: How you are in your coaching relationship might reflect how you are in other relationships in your life. The coaching partnership is as much a laboratory as it is a processing place.

We will look at exactly what you want to accomplish in coaching, so we have a reference point as we proceed for how we are doing. We will use a variety of effective (and fun) tools to assess what your current values, skills, passions, limiting beliefs, goals, and personal (and professional, if applicable) strategies are and what you want to learn. We will map out your plan.

We will explore the barriers in your life that keep you from stepping fully into your life. We can look at your fears, insecurities, insufficient skills, and other factors that keep you behind where you want to be. We will look at how your external environment either supports or detracts from your success. These are genarian issues!

You can count on a coaching relationship that includes your dynamic agenda, playfulness, use of metaphor, skill building exercises, movement, truth and intuition, challenges, homework, accountability, brainstorming perspectives, making requests, goal setting and revisions, exploration of new aspects of living, kind pushing, and a lot of fun!  I’ll be your champion and skilled witness to your life.

These first few coaching sessions will be a nice expansion of our initial two-hour session. You will see many of the same themes arise in different ways as we develop our strategy for action. We will get to know each other, and we will design our special and collaborative relationship that will support our ongoing work together.

EXTRA SESSIONS

There are occasions when you will want extra sessions. We can negotiate what that looks like when the moment arises. Know I am available to support you outside of our scheduled calls by telephone or other convenient method. Extra sessions should be scheduled with as much lead time as possible, although I will make every attempt to fit in urgent situations.

COMPLETION SESSION

As you feel you have met your goals, we will begin a process of completion—the completing of the coaching relationship. We will focus our attention on the goals we established in the beginning of the coaching relationship and how they were met throughout the course of the coaching. We will put into place important structures for continuing the work and we will look at what moving forward looks like.

BEYOND COMPLETION

The coaching relationship can be reignited with little effort! Your coach is always available. After completion there may be a desire to come back to coaching for a session or two. We will quickly re-establish our designed partnership alliance and then jump into your topics. Easy!
